Personal Life // Life Summary
Born in Barnwell, South Carolina on May 3rd 1933, James Brown was living in a family full of poverty, as a kid, Brown stated that he used to polish shoes at 3 cents, 5 cents, then 9 cents, he never went up to a dime, he was able to afford proper underwear. But as soon as he reached the age o 16, he was sentenced in a jail for 3 years for stealing a car.
While he was in jail, that was the time where he created a gospel choir with his inmates, especially thats where he met, Bobby Byrd

Bobby Byrd then invited him to be in their
R&B group, the Gospel Starlighters, then they renamed themselves into The Famous
Flames, which hit night clubs. In 1965, The Famous Flames had made a song called
‘Please Please Please’ for Ralph Bass, who was a scout to find talent within other people, and within a few months, ‘Please Please Please’ was number 6 on the R&B charts. Personal Life // Life Summary
After losing the contract with Bass in 1958, Brown traveled to New York to find a solo career, he went to go work with other artists, still calling himself ‘The Famous
Flames’, he toured for almost most of his days and his saxophone player made a state that; ‘When you heard James Brown was coming to town, you stopped what you were doing and started saving your money’.
