Different regions of Italy have different eating habits and ways to prepare food. The cause of the different eating habits is due to the fall of the Roman Empire. City states began to uphold separate identities and traditions. The ways food was prepared varied as well. In Italy a dish that is the region’s proudest specialty is unheard of a few miles down the road. Each region in Italy is made up of many different distinct cuisines that each have their own flavor palette and preferred cooking techniques. Pasta is a dish that people associate with Italian cuisine. The discovery of pasta was a rediscovery of a dish once very popular in Italy among the Etruscans and Romans. Italian artists are well known around the world. Italian painting was very prominent throughout Europe for many years. Because of many foreign powers, it caused for there to be a lack of art within Italy. Art was renewed around 1910 by Futurists artists such as Filipo Marinetti, Umberto Boccionni, and Giacomo Balla.
