When achieved, the student will be more successful in basically all areas of his or her life. If a college student gets no sleep at night, then they are forced to be exhausted during the day and want to take long daytime naps. They say that it is ultimately up to the college students to decide how they do in college whether it is in academics, the social aspect, or work. Many say that college students decide whether they want to stay up all night studying and receive no sleep, or manage their time better in order to study the material at more appropriate times. They also say that is completely up to the student to decide if they want to stay up all night doing whatever they please or going to bed at a reasonable hour. The college student will also decide if they should make room in their schedule to work out more and eat more healthy, so that counters the statement that sleeping patterns affect your eating patterns. Some individuals will say that sleeping patterns have nothing to do with the way they behave, it is just how they feel at that time and nothing can alter that. There is another side to the counter-argument that I need to address, and it is that many people are not knowledgeable about sleeping patterns and the affects of unhealthy ones. Peretz Lavie asserts in “Restless Nights: Understanding Snoring and Sleep Apnea,” “People with the syndrome are totally oblivious of their nightly drama, they are usually very surprised to hear about it, and their response is something like, “But Doctor, I never wake up during the night”” (115). This just proves how misinformed or uninformed
