Things taught in a welding class include arc welding, soldering (low-melting alloy used to binding less fusible metals), brazing ( soldering at high temperatures), casting (pouring molten metal), and bronzing (Welding). There are certain skills that a person needs to possess to become a good welder. To become a good welder a person needs to be detail oriented, have the ability to solve problems, have exceptional hand-to-eye coordination, and strength and stamina (Adkins). Also to become a welder a person needs to have knowledge of using welding torches or lasers, reading blue prints, and understanding shop mechanics (Adkins). A welding apprentice is someone who is in training to become a welder. Typically an apprentice will go through two education styles: a class room education and a hands on education. During the class room education apprentices will learn the basics and science on welding. During the hands on education they will perform projects actively learning how the machines work and most importantly the safety techniques (What). A welding technician is also known as a welder.
