Introduction
It is sad to say that the term professional is lacking credibility these days. To be a professional, it goes beyond a ‘referred ' name, an advanced degree or certificate framed and hung on the office wall. Though professionalism encompasses all of these, it is much more defined and tailored. To be a professional it is a calling that does not develop overnight, but through nurturing and development of a specialized character and standards evolves the attributes of a professional. A professional in the field of Human Services goes beyond the typical courteousness, a conscientious and businesslike manner in the workplace, but rather supported by certain characteristics, behaviors, values and personal traits. Among other attributes, integrity and honesty play an integral role as it amplifies trust and assists you to do the right thing while not compromising the values of oneself and the company. This brings the focus of commitment which alludes devotion and reflects willingness and allegiance to the company and to meet the objectives of whom you serve. Though this field is not dictated by a script written in a book, but rather knowledge of the "individual", we can 't negate the fact that specialized knowledge of the field of work is significantly important. That is, having knowledge of the duties and responsibilities as well as a good understanding of the various disabilities and to know how to cater to the needs of those involve. Respect for others holds significant merits. Having respect for other goes beyond the selection of specific people, but rather for everyone. Take for instance a dispute among colleagues about designated duties in a group home, Instead of getting upset or angry in return, the employee exhibits true professionalism by being calm and communicate the issue so that the job can be done properly.
