Participation In Theatre

Improved Essays
Due to of my participation in theater I have developed numerous life skills such as a strong sense of responsibility and leadership along with communication skills, building personal and professional relationships and a healthy sense of confidence.

I have always had an aptitude for responsibility, due to being the oldest child of a large family. However, because of my heavy involvement in community theater that sense of responsibility has grown more than it would have if left alone.
When working in the performing arts it is imperative to be responsible for yourself in everything. You must be responsible with your time, your efforts and your energy. You are expected and pushed to be on time for your rehearsals and to be responsible in taking

In the past year I have been asked, required or have chosen to write a variety of letters to our board of directors as well as a letter to a board for a grant. I was asked to write a letter of recommendation for my vocal instructor as an applicant for a grant and wrote a letter as spokesperson of my peers, requesting special use of our rehearsal space. Additionally, I was required to submit a letter of intent to our board requesting consideration for the position of director and had to write a follow-up letter choosing and explaining the show I wished to direct. Because of these various opportunities that arose I was challenged to teach myself better writing skills, in order to be able to present myself more professionally and be taken seriously through my written …show more content…
These relationships transcend generation and age, abilities and careers and have prepared me for any working environment.
I have formed solid connections with my various directors whom I respect, trust and even love and to whom I would not hesitate to ask for help if needed. On a professional level I have constructed many working relationships with the various adults within our theater company, which also happen to carry over into my personal life, as many of these adults are my friends’ parents. I have built connections with adults in various careers and capacities that I will be able to call on in later life, each with their own set of connections that I could tap into. These careers and capacities include adults involved with costume design and construction, makeup design and execution, the set builders, the various vocal directors and choreographers and especially the directors, who have at least a small working knowledge of how each of the previous capacities function. Thusly, these connections I subconsciously built have prepared me to consciously build the connections I will need in later life, no matter the career path I

In my opinion, my desire to be a state thespian officer could be summarized by my childhood girl scout troop’s mantra which was “Wherever you go make it a better place when you leave”. The arts programs over the course of my entire public education have served me well and continues to. This love for theatre has stemmed all the way from 1st grade Annie with my debut role of Kate the orphan to now an over 50 cast of Beauty and the Beast. I believe that the best way I can repay this debt back and make theatre a better place is through being a state thespian officer. Without theatre, I truly don’t know who I would be and I would like to do my best to not only improve arts programs across the state but, also bring the arts to those less fortunate improving theatre for all from when I first entered it all those years ago.…

I hate marching band. Leaving that trap of a class was the best decision I made in my entire high school experience. Once I had had enough of band, I joined theater. Joining theater fit my schedule well, introduced me to new people, and opened my mind to possibilities I hadn't considered before. The time I wasted in marching band was grueling.…

While forming relationships is key to successfully working with others, it is important to me that these relationships are mutually genuine. I am a firm believer that the people you associate yourself with determine the type person that you become. During the early part of my teenage years I had a large group of friends, many of which whom where very bad influences. More and more I began to find myself in bad situations because I was following the poor decision of those who I thought were my friends.…

“We are the roses. You see, you wouldn't ask why the rose that grew from the concrete had damaged petals. On the contrary, we would all celebrate its tenacity...” - Tupac Shakur When Tupac Shakur discussed the concept of a rose growing from the concrete, he forgot to mention the process of growth. While many prove to be tireless in their own pursuit of greatness, we would be remiss to not mention our “gardeners” whose efforts refined and strengthened our roots.…

I learned the need to work well in advance of the deadline. Musical details may be different than academic details, but just as slight differences in tone and pitch can completely change the music’s meaning, every detail, regardless of how small, matters in all subjects. Whether it’s a math problem or a novel, my heightened attention to detail helps me to better identify the correct steps or the overall theme. As high-school progressed it became more and more evident that relying on natural abilities doesn’t equate to achieving…

For the majority of my professional life I worked primarily in the private sector; consequently, I have very minimal professional experience in the public sector. While rummaging through various documents, searching for material required for the completion of this analysis, I recognized that there are overlapping and recurring themes which clearly point to who I am as a professional and, thus, the direction in which my professional life should proceed, public service. Therefore, my professional mission statement is, “To vigorously perform my responsibilities as a public administrator and to enhance the quality of public service by providing my clients with dedication, honesty and a commitment to make the best interest of all, my first priority.”…

I think that a theater would be most useful to the teens in Pulaski. For one, a ton of people like teens in Pulaski have to travel out of town to go to a movie theater. If someone wants to see a movie when it comes out, they could just go to a theater. But since we don’t have one in this town, they have to wait till it’s on DVD or spend like 40 dollars on gas to drive out of town, it’s really pointless. My second point is that it would be a nice place for teens to walk to every once and a while and enjoy a movie with friends or family.…
