Everyone is so busy if not in their professional lives than in their smart phones that not many watch an 8-hour Test for consecutive five days or even a day. The youth is so impatient and fickle-minded that if they ruled the world then every ball in cricket will be about six, four or a wicket, so just imagine how much of a mismatch Test cricket is with present times.
No one anymore is interested in watching the ball go past the edge of the bat and the epitome battle of skill and technique of the batsmen with bowler’s mastery and tactfulness. Generally, the end of office hour’s is marked by the end of a day’s play in Tests unlike the T20s which mostly begun at night time and lasts for hardly three hours and serves up as a perfect entertainment package for one and all. Though recently, the historic Day-night Test played with Pink ball under lights turned out to be successful. In a way it shows that now even ICC knows that it has to take some stern steps at the earliest to bring back the charm to Test cricket and now even boards are realizing that they can’t incur heavy losses due to Tests and have to do something to make good revenue. So they are going hard for Day-night Tests even though it’s not much supported by the cricketers due to its fallacies.
