My secondary group is my work environment revolving around my co-workers. Secondary groups are larger, but more anonymous, and more formal and impersonal. At work, I am specifically there to do my job, and then go home. I am respectable and friendly to my co-workers because I do depend on them to do their job as well, but at the end of the day I do not have any kind of personal relationship with them to consider them as a primary group. I would consider them to an in-group because they are people that I do respect and feel loyal towards. My job has given me many opportunities and one of them is to be able to step up and become a leader at my job. Reference groups are groups we refer ourselves to in order to evaluate our self. School is a major part of my life, and I dream and hope everyday that I not only strive to become the best graduate student I can at Shelton State, but, also being the best student I can be when I transfer to The University of Alabama. I have several friends who are upper level graduate students; and they hold a big achievement over their heads, and should be extremely proud. I hope and pray everyday that I will get to walk across the stage at The University of Alabama to receive my Bachelor’s degree so I can hold more value to my future career and myself.
