Texas in the summer is like Matthew McConaughey without his shirt on…it’s just so darn hot! Imagine you’re a dog, with layers upon layers of thick dog fur and you are forced to be outside in the heat. I don’t know about you, but that sounds absolutely miserable to me and I would feel so neglected and unloved. Not only does it get extremely hot outside, but come winter and spring, the weather gets rainy and cold, and I can’t imagine that being any fun for a dog. I have another neighbor that used to have a dog named Sugar, and she was specifically bought to be a hunting dog, and nothing more. Outside, they made a wooden home for her to live in, but they did not play with her or show her much affection because, after all, she was only “just a hunting dog”. I cannot stress enough that, even though they are a different species, dogs are a part of our families! Dogs deserve to be included in all the holidays, birthdays, and crazy shenanigans that all families participate in. My family can be very interesting to say the least, and we love to have fun and play/ wrestle with each other and our dogs. I think that time playing together with our dogs is crucial for bonding time. Bonding with your dog and creating that relationship is so important, I think, when it comes to raising a dog and making sure their life is the best it can be. So, it’s unfortunate to know that while some families are enjoying time together, their dog is out there wishing they could be a part of those special
