The idea of Pit Bulls being good pets is a controversial topic. Many people have their own opinions on the topic. In my opinion, they make good pets because they are loving, they can protect you, and they have their own personalities.

To start with, Pit Bulls are loving. Many people believe that Pit Bulls are hostile, vicious, and dangerous dogs. This mainly comes from what the media puts out about them. As it is stated in, "The Media and the Pit Bull," by James Cross, 'the media intentionally over reports incidents involving Pit Bulls, while keeping silent on attacks committed be dogs with better reputations.' Also stated in that source, 'According to the ASPCA (American Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals), news outlets consistently tell animal control officers they will not cover a dog attack unless it involves a Pit Bull.' Both of these statements show that the media is the main reason that Pit Bulls have a lousy reputation. All of my experiences with Pit Bulls, and I have a quite a lot of them, they have been some of the most pleasant dogs I have ever met. For example, my cousin has two Pit Bulls, one three years old, and the other a few months old. Both of these dogs are very sweet and loving. My cousin has three wonderful kids under the age of five, and she still trusts these

As it is said in, "Pit Bulls Haven't Always Had a Bad Rap," by a blogger that goes by the name of pitbull_lover, one Pit Bull by the name of Stubby saved an entire platoon of soldiers by warning them of a poison gas attack! If Pit Bulls were such hazardous and vicious dogs, do you think they would've used them in war? Not only were pit bulls used in war, but they were also kept as guardians. Pit Bulls are wonderful at protecting

Banning Pit Bulls Doesn’t Solve the Problem Pit bulls are vicious animals and should not be pets, but let’s look at what they were really bred for. According to the American Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals, (ASPCA) Pitbull’s were bred for bull-baiting and bear-baiting. They were bred to hold these large animals by the face in the United Kingdom. When this had become illegal in the late 1800s, people decided a new fate for these companions, which was fighting.…

While recently looking up Canadian laws, Animal Rights popped up and seemed very intriguing. From thereon, the Dog Owners Liability Act surfaced and it states “The owner of a dog is liable for damages resulting from a bite or attack by the dog on another person or domestic animal.” This law does make sense that the owner should take the responsibility of their dog because they were the ones who raised the dog to be the way it is but the one sub issue found with this law is the Pit Bull Ban. The total ban on the Pit Bull breed in Ontario is unacceptable because the government shouldn’t be targeting just the one breed because of the actions of several individual dogs, Pit Bulls shouldn’t be treated differently from other breeds, and if the government is already banning a whole breed, what is going to stop them from banning a bunch of other breeds that have the same attack numbers. Throughout this essay, it will be proven that the total ban of Pit Bulls is ridiculous and the law should be revoked.…

Most myths regarding pit bulls are based in fear, and almost all of them are proven fallacies. Pit bulls are not the only breed of dog that can have negative, aggressive tendencies based on its upbringing and other circumstances, but certainly an attack on an animal or a person by a pit bull is much more likely to be reported on the news, resulting in the creation of a bad reputation for pit bulls everywhere. Unfortunately, it is this belief that has caused some areas to put out bans on the entire breed. Not until people realize that any animal, even a pit bull, can be a very gentle, kind-hearted partner for life simply by raising the animal in the correct way, will pit bulls finally be rid of the negative and unfair reputation surrounding their…

People often claim their dog was wrongfully put to death. It was on the Nashville news the other day that a man’s dog was shot by a police officer just because he was a pit bull. The dog was not attacking or attempting to bite the officer, just barking.…
