Impetigo is the most common bacterial infection in children. This is a highly contagious infection of the superficial layers of the epidermis and is primarily caused by Streptococcus pyogenes or Staphylococcus aureus (1). Sometimes Streptococcus or strep bacteria can cause impetigo. It is most common in children between the ages of two and six, although anyone can become infected. The most common form of impetigo is called Impetigo contagiosa. This type usually starts as a red sore on your face, often near your mouth or nose. This sore, soon after it appears, will rupture and then oozes a fluid or pus that forms a gold colored crust. Eventually the crust will go away and will leave a red mark that heals without scarring. The bacteria that causes impetigo has the scientific name Staphylococcus aureus. …show more content…
It takes an account as the most common bacterial skin infection and the third most common skin disease among children. Because it often occurs more frequently in a warm, humid environment, impetigo is more common in the southeastern United States than in the cooler northern states. The occurrence of impetigo varies seasonally, with its peak occurrences during the summer and fall ; however, in regions that remain warm and humid throughout the year, seasonality may not occur. For the international statistics impetigo seems to occur more frequently in tropical climates and at lower altitudes. Warm and humid conditions being combined with frequent cutaneous disruption via biting insects favor its development throughout the year in these tropical climates. Also crowded conditions or poor hygiene also promote impetigo. A systematic review showed that the worldwide prevalence of scabies found that impetigo as a secondary bacterial skin infection to scabies was common, particularly in children, with the highest prevalence in Australian Aboriginal communities

Impetigo is a infection of the skin that can be easily transmitted and it forms crusty sores after the blisters detonate. Both impetigo and scabies, which are easily transmitted skin pathogens, are found in moist or tropical places, comparable to tinea capitis and tinea pedis. The tinea impetigo often forms as pustule, a small pimple-like dot that eventually transforms into a blister and ruptures after that. Symptoms of impetigo and also scabies include blisters, pus-filled sores and in some cases dermatitis. A physician is able to diagnose a person just by looking at their skin, however, some tests such as fungal scraping, to have a deeper understanding of how severe the patient's case it.…
