Rho Theta

I joined the Rho Theta honor society and applied to become part of the officer team because one of the current officers told me that her life has become more adventurous and more tedious since becoming an officer. She also clarified that being an officer has presented her many benefits and opportunities that she wouldn’t otherwise have gotten if she waited to join Rho Theta. This particular officer told me that I should not just take her word for it; she told me that if any piece of me was curious about being an officer that I should take the opportunity while it was still open. Every leader should not aim to be the same as their predecessor, but should aim to be even better that them. Each person is unique, and a leader should be able to express his own brand of eccentricity. A leader should be patient; that leader will encounter many people who will have random questions and statements that may or may not be relevant to his organization, and that leader should be able to smile and answer every question with integrity and respect. Cassie stated that as a leader, you will encounter some failures in the road; but it should not discourage you but make you want to aspire for the next time. You should learn from your mistakes and fix it for the future or find another solution so your successors will not repeat your oversights. Time management is essential for any person in a leadership position as well as for students. Being able to juggle school, work, and co-curricular activities, Cassie has shown her team that she can do all three and still have a personal life too. Cassie has given me some great tips in giving speeches to a small or large group of people: (for example) if students have questions, you have the answers; and they need your help to be their dream so help them. When we first met, she told me that I would have to be able to have conversations with people and that I could not just stay in my shell. During her interview last week, she has applauded me for my process from being a full-on introvert to becoming a slight extrovert.
