Four years on I graduated from York University with an honours bachelor degree in Psychology. Following my degree I transitioned into the role of Supervisor at Starbucks. As the QASA lead I make sure the cleanliness practices are carried out and the health and safety procedures are followed in order to ensure safety in the workplace. As the lead I created a weekly task management system which designated specific tasks most compatible with each employee considering their skill set, availability, and workload. The efficiency of this system was proven when we received a score of 97.9% which became the highest QASA score for district 207 in Q3 of the 2015 fiscal year. With my system in place, we have held our high standing in the district with no score lower than 95%. It is an accomplishment which demonstrates the various skills necessary for a career in human resources management.
The continuously changing job market requires a human resources professional who is equally adaptable as well as optimally experienced and with my own combination of both along with the help of the Human Resources Management program I can be that ideal HR

Prior to the UNI Career Fair, I did some research on the University website to try to figure out which booths I was interested in visiting. The Lutheran Services in Iowa booth wasn’t one that was particularly on my list. This company is a non-profit organization that helps people who are struggling to parent children with behavioral or mental health issues. I wasn’t exactly sure what Lutheran Services In Iowa was all about until I walked past their station, and saw words on a poster saying “help children” and “family focus”.…

Once I have graduated from university I see myself in a HR managerial role within a company. When discussing the professional identity of human resources and the management of this area, such characteristics include organization, dealing with grey areas, multitasking and being able to communicate and negotiate effectively whilst taking into consideration ethical and cultural values of employees (Peticca‐Harris, 2013). I am aware that most quality and attributes of that of a HR manager relate personally back to myself as I posses many of those characteristics, including communication and organization, I feel that’s this would be a strength of mine moving into this profession. However negation and dealing with the grey area, I find to be not strong qualities of mine, which I feel I must improve on if I intend to be the best HR manager I can be. Professional identity is essentially the long-standing collection of attributes, beliefs, values and experiences that shape a profession (Ibarra, 1999 as cited in Bennett, 2010).…

Society has evolved over the last century causing organizations to change with the times; shifts such as these, have required workers to "re-tool" to be a productive and indispensable member of the workforce. With change comes implications, not only for the workforce, but also for Human Resource (HR) managers. “Today, people of color, women, and immigrants account for nearly 85 percent of our labor force” (DeCenzo, Robbins, & Verhulst, 2013).
