How To Write A Clinical Reflection In Nursing

Decent Essays
Yesterday in clinical I was on the labor and delivery unit. As everyone know, mom and baby is not my preference. For me, the problem is not caring for mom or even seeing a delivery, it is caring for the tiny baby. I wanted to be on the labor and delivery side because I hoped to see a delivery. There was one delivery on the unit, but unfortunately the mom was not receptive to having a student in the room. We will be at this facility for another three weeks, so hopefully I will get to see at least one delivery. The patient I had was great. She was very sweet and very receptive to me being there with the nurse. She was 40 weeks, and had come to the hospital the day before. Her blood pressure was elevated, but by the time I had arrived it had started

It is an odd ritual that abortion providers perform – required as a clinical safety measure ... – but it also permits us in an odd way to pay respect to the fetus … even as we simultaneously have complete disregard for it. b. Personally, I think the way social workers providing services should depend on the types of clients we are working with. Working with children is different with working with elderly. Even though both groups demand special care, elderly do not like to be treated as children. Before I started my field placemen at the ELC, I believe that in order to work with children, one should be patient and really love kids. The working experience proved my views were correct.…

The Australian Nursing and Midwifery Council defines the enrolled nurse (EN) as, an associate to the registered nurse who demonstrates competence in the provision of patient-centred care as specified by the registering authority’s license to practice, educational preparation and context of care (Monash, 2013). As the enrolled nursing is on an on-going learning career, critical thinking, reflection and analysis are vital criteria that a nurse should concern during her duties and studies. Mainly these three points are significant to deliver a quality patient-centred care. Because some nurses that have been learnt these criteria are not applying in their clinical practice. Critical thinking helps ENs to make judgments related to client’s human…

A Nurse in Progress I remember when I began my practice as a nurse at the main hospital in my hometown, I was only fifteen years old. By then I had a nerve wracking experience; at first I thought that it would be anything but easy which turned out to be true. I was not aware of the great commitment of the health staff at the time of treating patients, but as weeks passed by I got more familiar with each of the procedures to perform there. I had the opportunity of working directly with individuals suffering from various diseases both physiological and psychological, but the place did not meet the necessary conditions to provide good service.…

In the neonatal nursing unit there are a large number of infants suffering in need of as much help as they can get. When I think of how much they have to go through just to live, it motivates me more to become one of their nurses. I recently read a Nursing journal article called “Extremely Preterm infant skin care” by Deanna E. Johnson APRN, NNP- BC, CWON. The actual journal was called Professional Growth and Development. Amongst this journal article, there was a few things in it that represented disciplinary research and writing practices of Nursing.…

I unplugged her monitors and as I did I noted two beautiful heartbeat tracings and continued contractions in a beautiful pattern of every 2 minutes. How ironic that we battle to induce these results in patients who have actually passed their due dates. I felt mocked by Mother Nature as my patient’s labor progressed when we would have preferred to dissuade its arrival for nine more weeks. I unplugged the patient’s bed, breathed deeply, and prayed that the team had arrived as I pushed my patient out the…

A personal reflection I found was in May of 2015. The patient was a female and 87 years old. The first couple of symptoms that were experienced by the patient 's daughter was her mother fell out of bed, could not get up and does not remember that ever happening. After this incident the mother could not live alone anymore and her daughters slept over to see if anything else happens. She was starting to gradually lose her motor skills and was refusing a doctor 's help.…

In a human’s life there are important milestones that we all go through such as: marriage, graduating from college, being independent and most importantly giving birth. Delivering a baby is definitely something monumental in a woman’s life because only they can experience the pain and difficulty it took in pushing out that baby. But for some women they tend to try and avoid as much pain as possible and opt for the C-section route vs the natural delivery route. In the past C-sections were not very common but from 2000 to 2007 there has been an increase.…

This nursing program has been an extremely difficult and adventurous journey; however, I realized that every nursing program has to be difficult because we are caring for the lives of people. Nursing is a rigorous field, but a rewarding one. I believe this program his given me the experience and knowledge I need to be able to care for a variety of patients. Throughout this program, I felt the first and third semesters were one of the most difficult ones because of the clinical simulations we had to complete. Truthfully, going through the clinical scenarios is far more difficult than actual patient care simply because we are being closely monitored by our instructors.…
