People should know how to write their name in cursive. When you get older you have to sign papers, for example; When you buy a house, when you buy a car, when you write a check, and many more. If you don’t know how to write your name in cursive then you have to print it and it's easier for your identity to get stolen. Also, only 36% of students can really write and read cursive very well. In fact, Forty-Five states have adopted the Common Core State Standard, which means that teachers have to teach cursive in school. In other words, cursive is required in school. People should know how to read cursive. When your teacher writes on the board and it's in cursive, you should know how to read it. Some people think cursive shouldn't be taught in schools. There's some reasoning's behind that statement too. We do have computers, most work is done on the computers now days. So there is no reason to learn it. Another thing is kids don’t want to learn cursive. They think it takes up too much time. Study's have shown that 10% of students don’t want to learn cursive. Also, that they're never going to use cursive in their life. Another point of view is, it just take's up too much time. What I mean by it takes up too much is, when we are in class we don’t want to have the whole class about writing in cursive, we also want to be on the computers doing other things.
