How Did Ww2 Changed America

World War II changed America as a whole from having so many disagreeing opinions to the country coming together as a whole and making America stronger. In my opinion World War II gave birth to the American spirit. There were so many different opinions arising before the United States entered the war and many of these changed after. Also, some did not. There were anti-war groups, hippies, organizations and important people who expressed their views on getting involved with the war. There were many anti-war groups and organizations such as the America First Committee, known as the AFC. The AFC was the biggest anti-war group in the 1940s and opposed potential intervention in World War II. The views were favored by important leaders, for example General Robert E. Wood, the aviator Charles Lindbergh, and Senator P. Nye. When the men went off to fight the women had to take their place. Women also went to war, but they mostly worked in factories making war materials. Whenever the war was over many things occurred. Since most of the population was at war, when the men and women came back there was a huge increase in the population. The television became more popular and professional sports. Overall, World War II had a positive effect on the United States. Even though before America entered the war everyone had so many different views, the attitudes after the war were different. After the war the nation had a desire and access to consumer products which brought the country together including the women working outside the homes.
