George Washington was the first president, Thomas Jefferson was the third, and Abraham Lincoln was the sixteenth. This may not mean much to this generation but they created what America is today. Many people may agree that Abraham Lincoln and George Washington were strong, significant leaders, but Thomas Jefferson was the strongest of the three and contributed the most to our country.
Thomas Jefferson is the strongest leader because he "made an impact on every aspect of society" (Jacobson 7). The educational systems were impacted by his idea of creating a public library that was free and easy to use for all citizens. The public library is a great resource to all who want just a quick read or need certain resources for school that they may not be able to obtain themselves. It has been an amazing contribution to our country today and not many "of us can imagine a world where we cannot just 'go check it out at the library' at any time" (Jacobson 6) that we see fit. He also impacted the nation and our government by launching the westward expansion of "the famed Lewis and Clark Expedition" (Jacobson 5) and had the most important job "of the writing of the Declaration of Independence" (Jacobson 4). Eventually he did but it took alot of time and even after many people in the nation still didn't agree with what he had done. He had to then deal with the Civil War between the north and south.
