Thomas Jefferson achieved a number of things; serving in the Continental Congress, serving as governer of Virginia, being elected into Congress, serving as Vice President, launching the Lewis and Clark expedition, purchasing new land for America to thrive, and founding the University of Virginia. He helped create the beautifully written document to free our nation from the chains of Britain. Although, George Washington helped with the drafting of the Declaration of Independence he didn't solely write the document as Thomas Jefferson had. Stated in source 2 "Washington didnt set out to become the greatest presdient of all time". Infact, he called himself a "citizen president". Is this do his "ungreediness"; or is it do to lack of work and continual admiration of the beloved " First President"?. George Washington did fight in wars and such but if you think about it, he didnt do anything to better our country. He didnt expand our country as Jefferson had. He didnt create public institutions as Jefferson had to better our education overall. He never served in a position as high as governer, vice president, or anything equalling that stature. He was immediatly placed into the position without any expeirence to higher authority. George Washington was good as a general, no doubt, but can one say he was the "best President of all time"?
