According to the psychological studies, the origin of homosexual behavior is due to a confusion of sexual identity; family and social traumas, subtle and violent, that they have strongly influenced this homosexual behavior problem in the individual traumas. Sociological studies may explain that homosexual behavior arises as a result and reflection of today's contemporary society. Medical studies, on the other hand, may suggest that homosexuality is a result of hormonal disequilibrium. Primarily, the advantages that become present in Pope John Paul’s argument is that his viewpoint is strictly aligned to the teachings of the Holy Bible. The Pope explains that the only true form of marriage, according to the Bible, is between two people of opposite sex. No ideology can erase from the human spirit the certainty that marriage exists solely between two persons of opposite sex, who by mutual personal, proprietary and exclusive donation of them, tend toward the communion of their persons. One disadvantage that becomes present in the Pope’s argument is his failure to address whether homosexuals “are left outside God’s plan if they are not part of the biblical story” (Johnson, 2001). The Pope does not make a clarification on how the Holy Scriptures convey the message of salvation of homosexuals. On the other hand, one advantage promoted by Trudeau’s arguments is the promotion of acceptance, and the reduction of hate and harassment towards members of the LGBT community. Trudeau’s thoughts may help promote peace and acceptance of homosexuals all around the world, and not just his country. Like John Paul II, Trudeau’s position also holds disadvantages. Without a solid foundation, like the Bible, Trudeau holds a view that is subjective, and while it may please some, others may not agree.
