Traditionally, marriage has been referred to as a union between a man and a woman. In marriage, it is a “commitment of both partners before God to love, honor, and cherish each other – in sickness and in health, for richer or poorer” (Miller 177). In recent years, gay marriage has become an epidemic in societal news whether it is acceptable by God or not. John, shares with readers about the several religious leaders and people around the world who have shown acceptance and God’s love to the LGBT community. A few religious leaders were stripped of their “ministerial credentials for officiating same-sex” marriages (John 3). According to John, Frank Schaefer was “defrocked by the United Methodists Church” for officiating same-sex marriage for his own son (2). Eventually, he was reinstated, but Shaefer wants the United Methodist Church to accept and include “All God’s Children” (John 2). Reverend Frank Schaefer was not the only rising advocate for homosexuals, but also Reverend Chester Wenger who suffered the same fate as Rev.
