I’m sitting down in my English classroom, waiting for my teacher to call me up. When I hear my name being called; a rush of panic runs through my whole body, my heart starts to race, my hands start getting sweaty, and when I opened my mouth not a single word comes out. Public speaking was a challenge because I always feared people would judge me over what I had to say and it became one of my insecurities. During my junior year in high school, I decided to take speech and debate so that I could gain the confidence to speak in front of an audience.
