Dear, School Board President Image your a child who enjoys sports and has good grades, then you find out that your school is no longer funding school sports. After the school stopped funding sports your grades start to get worse then you had before. If I was the parent of that child, I would start to get upset with my child for having failing grades when it wasn’t even their fault. My opinion of school sports being funded are to continue them. The reason I want to keep funding them is because children benefit from school sports. They are more social, have better academics, and have leadership skills. First of all, In sports children can develop leadership skills and go for their goals. In the text “Are High School Sports Good For Kids?”Stated “benefits of sports participation is the development of initiative or the ability to set and go after goals” this shows leadership because kids will be able to achieve what they want to do and not follow what others want to do. School sports also help kids develop leadership skills because in the article “What’s in the Name of High School Football?” Stated “autumn Mondays, the heroes (as defined by catching a TD pass or two)” this shows leadership because they are known as a “hero” and make others want to be as successful as them because they set …show more content…
Katie Couric from CBS said “sports don't only give kids confidents it can also give them more rewarding friendships.” (0:18-0:19). What Katie is saying is that sports can give kids the opportunity to make new friends that can last a lifetime. This is why schools should continue to fund sports because it can make kids more social.
