He handed me a blue necklace before he perished into the burning fires of the precious mansion he held so dear to him. He just laid there, watching his valuables burn to ashes and follow the path of the outside wind. His last words were, “Look in the cupboard, everything is there for you.” He said it with such seriousness, he was accepting his death and that is what pained me the most. I quickly ran after him, but he pushed me away. I watched him burn within the horrible fires, it practically swallowed him whole without any hesitation. I watched him wave goodbye as a single tear fell down his cheek and turned to smoke. I didn’t even get to say goodbye. The men in the orange suits took me away, and hid me in the back of their red truck. I cowered in the small, cold corner. …show more content…
The man apologized for the small number of seats in his large truck before he left to help with the fire. I hugged my knees quietly and waited for it all to pass over, for everything to be done with. I just wanted to be alone, like I’ve always been. Just alone with no else to bother me and tell me what to do. No one to occasionally remind me that I was useless, that I was a waste of space, a waste of time. I already knew, and maybe that’s why it all happened. It was my fault, I couldn’t help him.
“Wake up.” A scary, deep voice crowded my thoughts. I ripped my eyes open and looked around at my surroundings. I was in a large white room, but there was no one with me. I was alone, so what did I hear?
“Follow the footsteps.” The voice echoed once more, with a less aggressive tone this time. I looked around again, taking in my surroundings. The room was actually pretty small, much like a box. There was only a bedside table and a bed, which I was laying on with comfort. As I stood up, I saw red footsteps lead to a door in a corner of the room. “Who are you?” I asked, slowly walking towards the door obediently. The voice didn’t respond, so I just assumed that it was ignorant. Like me. I opened the door and more red footsteps appeared in the narrow, white hallway. As I shut the door behind me, alarms went off. They wailed loudly, making me cover my ears in pain. “Run.” The voice commanded, and I didn’t hesitate to do so. I didn’t know exactly what I was running from until I heard deep voices behind me. There were people chasing after me, they were going to catch me and put me back in that weird cage. I didn’t want to go back, it was scary in there. It was lonely and I didn’t like it. At the end of the hall I came across a large window, no doors, no vents. Just a window. There was no way to open it and I couldn’t possibly break it. And if I did, it would just lead to a worse outcome. “Break it.” He said, I shook my head. It’s scary, I thought. I’m going to die. Horrid thoughts rushed through my mind as I looked through the large window. I didn’t want to do it, but they were going to take me back. They were going to take me back to that horrible room, and I don’t want to know what it looks like when it gets dark. “There’s a portal waiting for you at the bottom, just break it.” He stated, annoyance seeping out of his voice like blood. I didn’t want to do it. What if he was lying? What if I was truly hallucinating all of this? As the men behind me started to catch up, I softly tapped the glass. It was just a sudden urge, and it felt quite nostalgic. When I tapped the glass, it shattered into small pieces. I was in too much of a rush to care, so I just jumped. Falling felt nice, much like flying. The wind in my face felt so good, I felt free. Only for a split second, then I got engulfed in darkness. It was scary, everything around me looked like it was moving. A lot like how I would look like when I was frolicking around in the
