Chandat’s favorite part as a general manager is her daily interaction with all different types of people. In the hospitality industry, you get to meet new people every day. Each guest has a story in which some may are more interesting than others but she states, “I love hearing from everyone.” Ms. Chandat has had guests from all ages, lifestyles and countries. “It is great to hear what is bringing them to town, especially in Elyria, OH. Chandat’s highest recommendation for those who want to join the hospitality industry is to apply for employment at a hotel and work in the business you want to be in. The best way to know the hospitality industry is for you is to submerge yourself into it. One may learn about hospitality business in college but the real world experience is where you learn most. “If I did not have the background knowledge I have from all my years training in every position at the hotel, I would not be as successful as I am. I thank my father for training me all areas of hotel business,” she said. Ms. Chandat also recommends students who are pursuing a hospitality degree to stay at a hotel in order to experience and learn good service versus bad service. Ms. Chandat thought, “Best way to know what a guest wants is to be the guest.” The third thing Ms. Chandat suggests is to read on the hospitality industry by subscribing magazines or Google the franchise you are interested in. Just like Apple and Samsung, hotel franchises have events as well as a R&D team. This is where the new trends launching are announced and expected in the market. Overall, my interview with Ms. Chandat was great. She is well experienced in the hospitality industry with the help of her father. She has many goals yet to pursue; with her experience, positive attitude and hard work, she will pursue them
