Introduction The state I chose for my research paper is Georgia. I chose this state because my family lives there. I wanted to know about what was there and some interesting facts about Georgia. Another reason I chose this state is their main fruit is a peach. I mean, who doesn’t like peaches. I also chose it because if I ever go back and visit my family in Georgia I will know stuff about it. That is why I chose the state Georgia.

State Insect

Georgia’s state insect is the honeybee. The honey bee became the state insect in 1975. The honeybee helps contribute to Georgia’s economy by making honey and aiding pollination of more than 50 crops. Bee pollination is big for humans and plants. “Honeybees live in hives of up to 80,000 individuals.”(statesymbolsusa.org). A hive is made up of one queen bee, worker drones, and the rest is sterile female worker bees. State Capital “The capital of Georgia is Atlanta. Atlanta was first a creek settlement known as Standing Peachtree. In 1837 in the center, right now Atlanta, was chosen to be the southern station on the western and Atlantic Railroad. This place was called Terminus. A railroad engineer predicted this would be a good place for one tavern, a blacksmith shop, a grocery store, and nothing else. This area then became known as Atlanta.”(Nancy Robinson Masters) State Tree Georgia’s state tree name is called the live oak. The live oak was adopted in 1937.”(Nancy Robinson Masters) Some people in Georgia believe that the pine tree should be the state tree. They think that because there are more pine trees than live oak trees. The debate will never be resolved. State flower Georgia’s state flower name is called the Cherokee rose. In 1916 the national society of the daughters of the American revolution chose the Cherokee flower as the state flower. They chose the Cherokee rose as the state flower because they wanted to honor the Cherokee Indians. The Cherokee Indians were forced to leave in 1838. Some people believe that the Cherokee rose came from China and got brought to Georgia by the English. Landmarks I am going to show you one of Georgia’s landmarks. One of Georgia’s landmarks is the fox theater. “Right now the fox theater is priceless and it would be impossible to rebuild it.”(foxtheatre.org) There are so many seats in the fox theater that 4,678 people could sit in the there. Isn’t that a lot of chairs. Every year about 750,000 people go to the Fox theatre. They also have to make a lot of popcorn for the people. They make 4 and a half tons of popcorn for people each year.

Conclusion
Some interesting facts that I found out while researching is that the state capital is Atlanta. I would have never guessed that that was the capital. I thought it was funny how Georgia’s state nickname is called the Peach state. That is what I found interesting about Georgia. I wish I can go there and visit my family. Just not on a school
