George Washington is probably the most influential president and leader of our country even today. Without him we would have no America, no freedom, and who knows what country would be here now. He may not have been the most educated and athletic guy, but he obviously knew what he was doing so I will tell you about his past and what he had laid down for our country then and how he influences our country and the world even now. He was born into a large family with him being the oldest of six siblings. Washington and his family spent most of their time at the Ferry Farm, a plantation on the Rappahannock River near Fredericksburg, Virginia. Washington married at the age of 27 to Martha Custis on January 6, 1759. When they had married, Martha already had 2 children, John Parke Custis and Martha Parke Custis. Washington cared for them as if they were his own, he spoiled them and loved them a like a father of his own children. Washington’s was a successful surveyor which gave him an advantage in the war because he knew the land better than anyone else. He first saw action on the battlefield in the French and Indian war, but later resigned to be a part of the government. Second Continental Congress later named Washington the leader of the Continental army to lead America into the Revolutionary War.
