I had heard them fighting on and off some nights but had never thought that they would separate. One day when I came home from school my mom told me that my dad had moved out. I found out that my dad had gotten a trailer that he had found in a trailer park about five miles away from my Mom’s house. I would go to visit him every other weekend at his new trailer for about a year. This was how the first year of my mom and dad being divorced went until he found a new place on Green Street of Lancaster city. I would visit him there until my senior year of high school when my school workload became too much for me to see him on weekends. In the story the author Ryan Smith says, “So I bypassed my usual summer YMCA experience for a camp close to Baldwin village known as the jungle because of the rampant gang activity nearby”. This made me think about when I went to summer camp for the first time with the Boy Scouts. It was my first time away from my family for more than a day or two. Camp seemed like a different place to me. It was fun with all sorts of activities to do you could do, any one of them. I remember making rope by spinning 3 pieces twine around each other. Making rope is the only fun thing that I can
