A sucker for classic romance films she stops on a black and white movie where two lovers are confessing their feelings for one another. But what Tina is watching isn't just any old love story, in fact the film is more of a crime story than a romance-she's watching Double Indemnity. Inspired by the investigator in the film who has the revelation that he was too close to the subject to figure out who was guilty, Tina decides that she will distance herself from her brother's case (just a tiny bit) by hiring a private investigator. The next day we find Tina at work again. Once again instead of investigating tax fraud, she is searching on her computer for private investigators. When she comes to the realization that many of the private investigators have offices close to hers in downtown Washington DC she decides to take an early lunch and visit some of the offices in person. After stopping at several offices, Tina meets Detective Richard Clancy who takes an interest in Tina's situation. Tina recalls that the night that Daniel was arrested. The pair went out to celebrate Tina's acceptance into graduate school. She explains to Detective Clancy that Daniel had always been a bit of hothead and came close to getting into a fight at the bar with two men, but she was able to calm him down and the two left that location. However, Tina does admit that both of them were still a bit tipsy, so the details of the night become hazy. But because Tina and Daniel are from a small town, there are only so many places that they can go so they eventually end up at the same bar as the people who Daniel had a confrontation with earlier, one who was an off-duty cop. Still steamed about the earlier encounter, Daniel approached the men and shoving match ensued. The cop handcuffed Daniel and took him to the station. Knowing that she was unable to drive, Tina called her parents and asked them to take her to the police station. At the station the police told the Lewis family that Daniel had drugs in his possession-with the intent to sell. Tina firmly believes that the drugs were planted but others weren't so sure because Daniel always walked a fine line when following the law. The trial didn't turn out the way the family wanted either. The District Attorney, Gary Malone was a former cop himself, and had very little regard or sympathy for those who did not respect the police. It seemed that Daniel wouldn't stand a chance and
