Fad diets are not a safe way to efficiently lose weight, yes you make shed the 30 pounds quickly but it’s nearly impossible to keep the weight off after the diet has come to an end. Obesity is something that has overwhelmed the American society, unlike many other places, we have an excess of food, and mostly food that is very unhealthy for us. We have minimal inspiration to lose weight in a healthy way that’s when we turn to the magic pills, potions or supplements to take care of the weight loss for us.

The five bite diet was created by Dr. Alwin Lewis. On this diet you are able to eat whatever you want, instead of counting calories you count how many bites that you take. On the five bite diet you are allowed as much as you want to drink as long as there is no calories in the drink, you are to consume no food for a breakfast but are to take a multivitamin. For lunch and supper you’re allowed to have five bites of whatever you want. This diet will most likely only let your body consumer 800 calories a day even if you’re taking large bites. Doctors recommend not going on this diet unless under complete supervision of a dietitian plus a doctor to monitor your vitals as it will cause your metabolism to slow down. It would be hard to find a diet with simpler instructions, it teaches you portion control but in a very unhealthy way. However you will most likely be quite hungry if you’re only in taking ten bites of food per day. However instead of doing trying the unhealthy diet to get rid of the extra weight quickly try doing the USDA's MyPlate program.

It gives you portion control but also allows your body to consume enough food to stay healthy. It shows to split your plate into four different sections, fruit, grains, protein, and your vegetables and teaches you how much of each category you should be in taking to stay healthy and lose weight.

Another popular fad diet would be the grapefruit diet. This fad was created in 1930 by a man named Kelly D. Brownell, they say it has outlasted other fad diets around. They say that the grapefruit contains certain enzymes that cause the body to lose weight. On the diet you go ten to twelve days with cutting back on all sugars, carbohydrates, avoiding certain foods (Celery, white onion), eating foods that are high in protein, and eating grapefruit or drinking natural grapefruit juice before every meal.

There has been a few studies that show about grapefruit and weight loss. Studies show that obese people that ate half a grapefruit before meals for twelve weeks lost more weight than those who didn't eat or drink any grapefruit. It could be that the water in grapefruit helps you feel fuller faster, causing you to eat less. Trying to lose ten pounds in ten days isn't healthy, nor is it recommended by professionals, even if this diet worked for you, you'd be likely to gain all the weight back. Personally I believe that the grapefruit diet can be harmful, there is such a limited option of foods that you can eat, and small portions which is destined for boredom. Grapefruit can be part of a healthy weight decline, because it's nutritious, not because of any secretive fat-burning properties. There is also a diet out their called the werewolf diet which is also known as the moon diet plan. This fad has two options, theirs the basic diet, and the extended diet. On the basic diet you undergo a series of fasting for twenty-four hours on a specific moon phase. During your fasting days your body is cleansed of toxins and can lead up to losing up to six pounds in the twenty-four hour time phrase. When doing this diet you must set up for the phases of the “new moon” or a full moon. It’s critical that you must start the diet on the exact minute of the moon phase which generally occurs while you are asleep. During the twenty-four hours you are only aloud to consume liquids that have zero sugar. You can drink a cup of natural tea but

The South Beach diet is a commercial diet created by a cardiologist, Doctor Arthur Agatston.
