Explain Two Methods Of Communicating A School's Ethos

Ethos- is the school’s values and beliefs, the schools philosophy and the atmosphere of the school.
In working practice this might reflect in religious images on display in Faith Schools for example and the way certain festivities are celebrated in a school.
Staff and pupils should reflect a school’s ethos in their attitude, there should be a positive atmosphere and people should take pride in their surroundings and be happy with the way the leaning takes place.

Mission- or Motto, is the schools intention as set out by the Head Teacher it will also overlap with the values, vision and aims
In working practice this might mean that the Head teacher addresses pupils in assembly about the mission of the school and what is expected of the pupils,

3.2 Methods of communicating a school’s ethos, mission, aims and values

It is important to communicate the school’s aims and values as much as possible, because when staff and pupils have a good code of conduct and pride in their school it will make a good impression.
Aims, values and rules should be displayed around the school and on the playground to remind staff and pupils alike and make sure everybody knows what is expected of them and how to behave and how to play.
Rules and mottos might be put up in the classrooms at different academic levels so the message will get across at the right level for the pupils of that class e.g. in the reception classes the mission, aims and values might be communicated by pictures rather than text.
The school should be clean and tidy and everybody should help keep it that way. Pupils and staff should be proud of their surroundings and visitors to the school should feel welcome and at ease.
There should be clear policies about behaviour, safeguarding children, school uniforms, bullying etc, accesible for everyone e.g on the schools website as that is for many people the first impression they will get of a
