Mr. President, as the Vice President of this firm, I have seen the effect due to the decreasing financial situation within this organization. Once an upbeat, enthusiastic group, the morale of the employees has drastically plunged. In order to restore the optimism and drive throughout this firm, I propose the implementation of incentives. An incentive, something that motivates the actions of an individual (Hackworth, 2015), can be grouped into four categories: remunerative, coercive, moral and social incentives (Johnson, 2015).
Many leaders tend to use remunerative incentives as their first result when attempting to execute a spirit-lifting agenda. This enticement encourages an employee to behave in a particular manner because of the financial

Low morale, which is present in our company, can lead to poor cooperation, low productivity and increase turnover impeding on the goals of the organization being met. Case in point, our firm. Low morale is an emotional issue with our employees. We have very good employees who come to work on time each day and do their job well but the financial hardships and downturn of success for this firm has caused our workers a feeling of not being needed or appreciated by executives such as us. Monthly parking spot – The employees will anonymously vote for the individual they feel should be employee of the month. At that time, that employee will receive recognition in our monthly newsletter and obtain their very own parking spot in front of the firms building. This incentive has no cost for our firm.
2. Birthday club – each employee will receive a birthday card and $20 gift card to Starbuck’s as a gift from us. Birthday card - $3 x 30 = $90. Gift card - $20 x 30 = $500. Total expense for the firm: $590 per year
3. Bring significant other to lunch (bi-monthly) – The firm will cater lunch into the office where each employee who has had no disciplinary infractions for that month can invite their significant other for lunch. The lunch will be extended by 30 minutes. 60 employees plus significant other x $15 a person = $900 total cost for the firm
4. Donut Friday’s – the firm offers donuts, coffee and juice every Friday morning in the break room. When possible, the President and/or Vice President will be present to mingle with the employees. Approximately $40 cost for the firm
5. Weekend Getaway – The employee who has the best overall sells for a 6 month period will receive a $1000 voucher for a local weekend get away for two. This voucher will include 2 nights lodging, $400 food voucher and $200 spending money. Cost for firm:
