When I started analyzing the data I looked at the number of pitches that each player threw. I got 435 pitches for pitcher one, 362 for pitcher two and 180 for pitcher three. This doesn’t tell me a whole lot other than pitcher three’s data is more likely to be an inaccurate portrayal of their skillsets. The next thing I looked at was the pitch type of each pitcher to get a better feel of the style of these three pitchers. I did this in two ways, first I used python to count the number of pitch types for each player and then I made pitch location charts to see what pitches they used most often and if there were any patterns to the locations where their pitches crossed the plate. While pitcher two tended to go way left of the plate from his point of view (inside for a left-handed batter). I also noticed pitcher three tended to go to the upper right area of the strike zone. The last thing I looked at were the results. I calculated ball the batted ball stats for each pitcher, specifically calculating the Line Drive Percentage (LD%), Fly Ball Percentage (FB%) and Ground Ball Percentage (GB%). These stats showed that pitcher one had the highest GB% and the lowest LD%. Pitcher two was a little more split between ground balls and fly balls, but he still had half the line drive percentage of pitcher three, so after looking at those I felt everything was pointing towards pitcher one as the best pitcher with pitcher two behind him and pitcher three at the
