Discrimination is something that the majority of us have experienced at one point in our lives. Whether it be because of race, skin color, ethnic background, or sexual orientation. This issue exists in the world, but it is also very present in the United States due to the great amount of diversity all around the country. Many have fought to end discrimination but it still has roots which continue to keep growing even though many people believe that it has subsided.
This topic has been seen to be on the rise lately, it somehow manages to come back on a daily basis which is shown on the news but what you see on social media, the news, or any other social platform isn’t all that’s really going on. Those who discriminate and target a certain community feel resentment and in a way feel threatened because of the diverse environment that they are in. One of the major events that happened during the 2016 presidential election was the discrimination shown against hispanics, and immigrants that came to the United States looking for a better life. The most common thing heard was people telling hispanics to “go back to their country” which is inconsiderate and unnecessary.
