5 Individual focuses on his/her own work and performance and is not accountability for learning of other members in the group. It ensures both group and individual accountability. Members hold self and others accountable for high quality work.
6 A traditional learning group does not provide the structure for individual accountability. Less motivated students or less intelligent students or introverts will allow the more motivated ones, more intelligent ones or extroverts to do the majority of the work. A co-operative learning group provides for individual accountability through rubrics, teacher observation and peer evaluations.
7 Social skills are assumed or ignored. There is no effort for team building and no direct instruction on group dynamics. Co-operative learning is all about teamwork and this is often directly taught, emphasized, and in the end assessed through the project rubric. Teamwork skills are given more importance. Members are taught and expected to use collaborative
