Individual factors can also be separated into four categories; Knowledge, Skills, Attitudes and Genetics. Knowledge refers to the level and depth that young people are able to recognise health problems and make decisions regarding health behaviours and health services. Knowledge affects young people because it influences their behaviours and choices. eg a young person with low-level of knowledge may not be aware of speed limits, or being able to recognise the circumstances and dangers of road trauma and may choose to partake in risky behaviour such as not wearing a seat belt.
