The Declaration of Independence declared America's freedom from Britain. The founding fathers drafted it on July 4,1786. This is the number one most important thing in American history because it declared our freedom. Freedom was important because Britain was controlling us. We would never be our wonderful country today without it. This is when we became our own country. Without it we would still be stuck with Britain.

Jamestown was the very first colony in America that survived. British founded Jamestown in1607. This is so important because it was the first city that is still here to be in our country. This symbolized the colonization of America. Those colonists were the first not native people to be able to live in our country.
