Signing the Declaration of Independence was very dangerous, It was a treasonable act and punishable by death. Everyone involved with the Declaration put their lives on the line for freedom. “The Continental Congress meeting in Philadelphia has appointed a committee of five to write a statement explaining the colonists’ arguments for independence from Great Britain.†It was on July 4th that the Declaration of Independence was approved. It included for important key ideals equality, unalienable rights,consent of the governed, and the right to alter or abolish government. Document A talks about the importance of Equality. When the Declaration was read North and South Carolina did not want to end slavery, resulting in the removal of this statement. Meaning that it only gave freedom to some not all. Equality gives everyone an “equal opportunity to succeed.†Without equality the world would be one sided. Document B speaks on the unalienable rights that cannot be taken away from us, these rights are life, liberty, and the pursuit of happiness.
