The American Bull Terrier Vs the Dachshund The American Bull terrier, often referred to as the Pit Bull, is considered to be the most aggressive dog breed around. However this has been proven to be false, by a k9 aggression test. The truth is the Pit Bull is not the most aggressive breed, because this characteristic belongs to the Dachshund breed. The differences between the Pit Bull and the Dachshund breeds are uncanny, of course the most obvious differences being those of the dogs size and stature. The average male Pit Bull weighs in anywhere from twenty five to sixty five pounds, and stands at around nineteen inches tall. The average male Dachshund however measures in at a fraction of the Pit Bulls size, weighing anywhere from eleven to thirty two pounds, and standing at about eight to nine inches tall. The Pit Bull is also known for its muscular stature while the Dachshund is known for its longer that average body. According to the aggression scale, found on care2.com, the Dachshund ranks number one on the list, while the Pit Bull is listed as average. This stereotype has been brought on to the Pit Bull not because of the breeds aggression problem, but because it is the dog responsible for the most injuries and fatalities. The reason for this being that Pit Bulls were breed as trapping dogs, so there biting technique is one of a grab and shake method, while that of a Dachshund is more of a nip. So with that being said when a Pit Bull does happen to bite someone the bite does inflict damage, and that’s why it is reported, unlike a Dachshund bit normally is not that serious of an injury. Another characteristic of a Pit bull is that it has one of the strongest bites out of most breeds, with a recorded bite pressure of two hundred and thirty eight pounds, while the Dachshunds bite is barely a fraction of
