President Theodore Roosevelt owned an American Pit Bull Terrier named Pete. In the movie The Little Rascals the dog is an American Pit Bull Terrier. Is the breed of American Pit Bull Terriers good or bad? The topic on whether the American Pit Bull Terrier breed is good or bad, has a deep history to consider, and there will always be both supporters and critics who continue to debate this topic.
Throughout the years, the viewings on the American Pit Bull Terrier have changed. These viewings have changed based on their history of the dog. From 2010 to 2014, Pit Bulls have killed and/or injured a lot of Americans about 14 citizens every day. In the past, American Pit Bull Terriers have been associated with attacks on humans. Pitbulls are beautiful in their variety, but their most appealing features are their inner qualities. Strength, confidence, a sense of humor and a zest for life are all hallmarks of the breed. They also tend to be sensitive and get their feelings hurt easily (“Reflecting on Pit Bulls - Whatever they are!”. Badrap.org.). Showing that the dog has feelings and that it has a sense of emotions give people a soft spot for these dogs. Emotions to the dogs qualities helps show how the dog is gonna act like. With the stories of how these dogs act, the fact states that the it's not entirely that dogs fault or is it? With the number of accidents people get the view of that breed of dog being scary, and associate that all dogs of that breed to be like that. Some point out that the owner is the reason the dog has an attitude. American Pit Bull Terriers are strong for their size and can be stubborn if left to their own devices...begin obedience training early and continue throughout the dog's life...training is a foundation for a strong relationship with your American Pit Bull Terrier (“American Pit Bull Terrier” 4). With all that said the dog’s actions can be based on many different things, whether it’s from a genetic line or how it was raised if it was raised at all. Despite how long Pit Bulls have been around, stories of Pit Bull attacks didn’t begin to pick up steam until the 1980s. This happens to coincide with the reemergence of dog fighting in the United States ( Liddle, 4).
