My performance on this assignment pushed me to develop strong critical literacies in reading, writing, speaking, and listening. Before I entered the class, I used to be very blatant with my intentions and not an effective writer. By teaching me how to use pathos, ethos, and logos, I learned how to use these subtle implements in persuading my audience towards my ideas. I also established the ability to understand and appreciate human differences within society. Learning how to step back and evaluate other’s opinions helped me have an open mind and sympathy. This whole course trained me to be a better student in my classes in taking time on my writing abilities. I hardly tried at correct punctuation and coherency in my explanations and essays, but I learned that it is important to take your time and give …show more content…
I somewhat had an idea what I was going to discover, but it opened up a door into a catastrophic problem in society. I learned how many U.S. citizen suffer from not having enough money to buy essential medicine. This epidemic made me want to push more for lower prices since a human life is worth more than any amount of money. To complete this assignment, I first researched my topic and took a side to argue. Then I wrote three pages to be peer reviewed by others in my class. Once I got it back, I corrected my mistakes then wrote about three more pages to have another round of peer reviewing of my essay. After I got it back, I finished my essay then had a classmate go over it many times to find any other possible mistakes I could have made to be fixed. I also had to write this reflection to turn in with it. I faced a lot of problems with my syntax. I would be thinking so much in my head about my ideas that my writing would lose its understanding and be confusing to my readers. I had to have many peer reviews read my essay aloud so they could find any poorly worded

Professor Warnick, I enjoyed this class, and I do believe it helped me to improve my writing. I always have a hard time in English classes because writing is not something I am good at. As a writer, I’ve often been told that while my writing is good, but my usage of pronouns and “fluff” can hold back my essays from being great. In older drafts of Classroom Wallflower, so much emphasis was placed on course requirements that it began to overtake the essay, and thus had to be cut back on in order to create a better argument. Similarly, the original draft of Lone Digger: Digging into Escapism featured lines consisting mostly of fluff detailing the way the singer’s voice distorts the words being sung rather than emphasizing them, but a few revisions later cut it down to “The words blend in too easily with the music,…

The decoding packets that we did also helped me fix some of the frequent grammatical mistakes that I made. As the year went on this class became slightly, and I mean slightly easier. I am immensely proud of the fact that my writing has improved over this year, and the improvements in every area of writing that I made is the one thing that I feel the most accomplished…

Throughout this course, writing took more than just writing about what you read. Here I learned to process all the information that needs to be processed and come up with some way to get it out on paper. With writing I have learned that vocabulary and grammar are two very affective sides to it. With grammar I have learned when to end a sentence. Working on grammar for my writing also allowed me to learn, when the time came for me to use punctuation and extend the sentence.…

After my completion of AP English junior year, I felt better than ever about my writing. Although it is okay to be confident in your skills, I entered this year with a sense of satisfaction and no desire to take my writing abilities to the next level. Due to this lack of ambition, I haphazardly threw my first week essay together and genuinely thought my teacher would be in awe over my skills- as I was only a senior entering a college course. When I received my grade, I was shocked to see that I had been placed into the scoring category of “weak”, and my teacher ultimately wasn’t so pleased after all. After some reflection, I reached the conclusion that my teacher was right- I deserved that five out of twenty.…

At the beginning of the semester, I viewed myself as a creative writer. After attending this class I realized that there is a lot more that goes into writing an essay, or a research paper, than just creativity alone. I have learned that it is very important to be aware of my strengths and weaknesses in my writing. Taking this class has helped me understand the strengths and weaknesses in my writing skills, and it has given me the opportunity to strengthen the areas in which I was weak. An example of this is that I have become aware of my grammar and spelling errors as the semester progressed.…

In the paper, I drew several articles referring to parental advisory and a child’s development into my paper. Writing an essay about my experience as a writer and how I feel when I write. I thought should be a breeze until, I received my grade back. It was not a horrible grade, nor what I was expecting. When reading the teacher’s comment “While you did write your response in several paragraphs, it isn 't fully a reflective essay. To be an essay, it must include an introduction paragraph that ends with a thesis/focus sentence, supporting body paragraphs, and a conclusion paragraph.”…
