Essay About English Class

This English class has been very helpful in my efforts to improve my writing abilities, but has also been very challenging due to there being a different median for every essay. It’s been a heavy work load especially this semester since I decided to enroll in five classes, but in the end it has been very beneficial indeed. I can’t say that writing essays has been one of my strong points but I believe that this course has helped me improve tremendously and it has also made me feel a lot more comfortable with my writing. While in high school I would usually write all of my essays a day before the due date a habit of mine that was very difficult to overcome, but now I have learned from my mistakes. I learned that you have to take your time and start he project early this way you can make multiple drafts and with each draft your essay continues to get better and better. This …show more content…
I feel that I was able to accomplish this because of my hard work and great feedback that I have received from my classmates. My other important goal I had for myself was to fix all of my grammar errors which have haunted me throughout my entire educational career. I am most certain that I accomplished this goal mostly because of the help of my handbook without it I might have still been lost. I mostly feel proud of how well I did in my narrative essay because that was a first for me and was also the one that stressed me out the most. After completing it I found that it was really not that difficult the basic thing is just to tell a story about yourself and adding sources to provide backup. I know that all I have learned in this course will help me in any future writing projects that I may have and for that I am truly grateful I not only took this course but was able to accomplish it. I expect my future writing to be much better than it was in my high school days and in my first years of

There has been no sleeping in class or slacking off this year, I’m lucky enough to take a college course a year early and at a better price, and I’m not going to waste it. I’ve learned a lot this semester, including but not limited to: identifying how exactly the author’s purpose and audience determines effective writing, developing pieces of writing though a process of planning, revising, and drafting, compose an organized essay with clear points and main ideas, used appropriate tone and formality, critiqued writing, and finally how to grasp the MLA format. My writing has improved through the concepts I have learned this semester.…

Upon my entry into English 1010-02, my first college writing class, I expected to breeze through the course with an easy-A and minimal effort after my successful completion of AP English 11 this past year. I began the year with the utmost confidence in my writing abilities, and believed that my skills were above par. It wasn’t until I received my score on the essay evaluation for my First-Week Essay- a measly five out of twenty- that I realized that this was not the case. At first, I was astonished that my seemingly exceptional writing skills had not earned me the A that I believed I deserved. However, as time went on I came to the realization that I had not put in nearly enough time or effort into the paper to receive more than a C at most.…

No matter where you go or went to school, you always have some type of English class that forces you to write papers. These papers usually has to be a certain way or over a certain topic. To me that was a pretty big problem for me because I could do free writing easy, but when you tell me to write about something that I don 't have any interest in and I have to follow your “rules”, then I will just try to blow it off. I have always hated the way Professors and the world had this “image” of their version of a “perfect” essay. I always messed up on the rules like where to put my commas or semicolons, that to me is the hardest part to not have a run- on sentence.…

For the first essay it talked about a journey that I went through, and so I talked about going to visit my older sister at her college. I felt like I had to be rather verbose just to get the number of pages needed for the paper. Going through the class the words starting flowing more freely out of my fingers on to the keyboard, and everything I wrote started to make more sense. Before all the writing and grammar exercises I would always write thing sout on paper, and it would not make any sense. What I perceived in my head was different than what was coming out on paper.…

Applying my efforts in this specific class I believe has improved my skills tremendously compared to my prior years of literature. Compared to last semester and this semester is that I have felt more pressure on my shoulders about receiving better grades and studying an extremely large amount of time. I was pushed to take most of my time and form it into a way of studying specifically for the writing portion to see if I earned college credit for the future. The goals I wanted to conquer first semester was being able to address the prompt and also strengthen my grammar and word usage.…
