I was 18 years old, just out of school and playing footy for in my opinion one of the greatest rugby union clubs ever, Norths. It was 3 pm on Saturday the 22nd of May a beautiful sunny cloudless day. This was the local derby, Brothers ‘The Filth’ playing Norths underdogs of QLD premier grade. Norths had an uphill battle they were 8th out of 9 teams and Brothers were 2nd. It also didn’t help that Norths hadn’t beaten Brothers since 1990 and hadn’t been competitive in Queensland Rugby since 1978 the only time they had ever won a title.

“Yes, thank god yes”, screams Robbo and Cores is going crazy as well. “THE DREAM!!! THE DREAM!!!!!” It is the first time Norths have beaten Brothers since 1990 everyone was ecstatic it was like everyone had just won a million in the lotto. Winning that game felt also better than winning a premiership.
After the match, to Robbo and my objection we shared a spit roasted pig with the Brothers players and supporters for dinner. We even talked to some of the people from Brothers and they didn’t seem to bad anyway. Even Harry Hunt was being a good bloke for once. After that day Brothers and Norths supporters didn’t hate each other as much as they used to and the two clubs bonded in a
