Reaching the huddle, I bellowed a few words of encouragement followed by the play, “Eight-eighty-seven, seventy-one,” “ready”, “brake”! …show more content…
We were all shuffling to get set, I took the snap and spiked the ball to stop the clock. The ball was at the 29 yard line. We ran a screen play to Caleb and he picked up 16 yards and got out of bounds to stop the clock once again. We now have marched 54 yards which set us up with first and ten from the 14 yard line, with only 20 seconds left! After each team gets an opportunity to score, if the score is still tied the game will it end as a tie. I was determined to not let this game end in a tie because a tie is like kissing your sister, and that’s just wrong!
When play resumed, we played lights out defense and didn’t allow them to score. Now it was our turn. We ran to left for a gain of about six. Next was a run to the right for no gain. Finally I gave the ball to Caleb for the last time of the season and he bull rushed his way into the endzone to secure the victory.
This football game was one of the best experiences in my life because I learned so much both as a person and as a football player. One life lesson I learned from this game is that when you get a 2nd chance in life, take advantage of it, don’t just let it
