Pow! First hit of the game and I am sprinting hard to each base “get down! get down! get down!” my coach screams as I am running to third base. It all started when I was only four years old. It was tee-ball at first. When I turned six years old I started playing coaches pitch. Then, I turned eight years old that’s when the real excitement came in with fast pitch softball. I have realized that the passion I have for softball is very strong. Softball has really helped me establish honorable grades, self-control, and social skills, which will help me as I continue my goals of becoming a Physical Therapist at the University of Florida. Being that I am classified as one of the most talented players on the team I try to control myself and be a leader. Sometimes I get frustrated with the audience but I have to ignore them and do what is best for me and my teammates. I am also not always in a terrific mood but I have to control my feelings and keep it moving. Not only on the field did I gain self-control but also in classrooms. I have to control myself in classrooms so that I do not have to face consequences on the field. Self-control, respect, and honesty is some traits of the best players. Self-control is also ignoring any negative energy trying to get in my way of succeeding and not moving forward of my mission at the University of Florida. Finally, softball has really enhanced my social skills. In softball I have to interact with coaches, teammates, and opponents this verifies my social skills. Softball is a hand-ons activity and I have to associate with each teammate in order for the game to run smoothly. I also have to be very social; because, I play shortstop and it involves calling plays and making sure everyone is executing what is needed to be executed. Being able to interact with my coaches, peers, and teacher will be a big help on my journey to the University of Florida to be a Physical
