I was excited for this season because I could finally try out for the school team. Although it would be weird to no longer play four-on-four with my goofy, gap-toothed buddies, I was determined to make the team and represent my school. When I walked into the gym on the first day of tryouts, I was abruptly confronted by the other sixty-three kids who had the same aspirations of making the team as me. As I was called in I saw a few kids celebrating their positions on the team. I wanted to join them so desperately in celebration that I almost forgot that the coach was waiting for me in the doorway to his musty office.
