Clothing In The Book Of Genesis

Great Essays
In the Book of Genesis, God created the world and every living creature in this world including first human being, Adam and his wife, Eve, created by God with one piece of Adam’s rib, who lived in a paradise named Eden with rhathymia. However, deceived by wicked serpent, Adam and Eve ate the fruit of the tree of the knowledge of good and evil that God explicitly told them not to eat. In the chapter 3 of the book of Genesis, before eating the fruit of the tree of the knowledge of good and evil, Adam and Eve did not realize they were naked for the entire time until they ate the fruit of the tree of the knowledge of good and evil. Therefore, Clothing became an obvious need for Adam and Eve as …show more content…
In the chapter 3 of Book of Genesis, after Adam finished the fruit of knowledge of good and evil, Adam knew that it was shameful and embarrassed to appear in front of God, he said, “I heard the sound of you in the garden, and I was afraid, because I was naked; and I hid myself.”(Genesis 3.10) Here, Adam who had developed the sense of shame made a decision that he thought was right, which is hiding away from God. He started being self-conscious about his naked appearance in front of glorious Almighty God whom he should show respect instead of his naked body. Without the sense of shame, Adam and Eve would still stand there nonchalantly. Since then, whether it is shameful or graceful becomes an indispensable factor a rational human being has to consider when he or she makes a right decision. Having an awareness of shame is not shameful at all. Awareness of shame maintains humankind’s rational thinking process and prevents humankind from the edge of the moral
