By far the most successful aspect of this essay was its ability to compact the information and convey Cheaps’ message in only two pages. Her ability to condense it down into two pages and still explain the problem surrounding the double standard. Having bite-sized paragraphs that were easy to digest and to follow along with was also another good style choice. Using anecdotal evidence as well as stories from her own life and her friends’ life really put things in perspective and made the reader think about how they endure or see the double standard every day. The only style choice that did not resonate with me was, how she kind of took a cop-out solution instead of a definitive one. She merely states that at the end of the day it’s on a case by case basis and sometimes it’s ok to enforce the double standard to preserve your relationship. Furthermore, although I applauded her for her anecdotal evidence and the stories, I did not like the fact there was no scientific evidence such as statistics or PubMed studies to support her.
