“In the beginning, God created the heavens and the earth ….” (King James Version, Genesis 1:1). The Bible clearly identifies who created the world and how it was formed. No one knows when the earth was created or what it could have looked like. There are many ideas of what it was like based on what is written in the Bible. Christians believe the Bible, the story of creation, and that God created the world in seven literal days. However, evolutionists continue to believe that there is evidence that the universe and the earth took billions of years to form. Also, that life on the planet has come about by the process of evolution, as proposed by Charles Darwin. Scientists study the results of old processes in the present and try to reconstruct …show more content…
He was an English naturalist and geologist, best known for his contributions to the evolutionary theory. Darwin published his theory of evolution that explains biological change with compelling evidence in his book On the Origin of Species, which argued that all species of life have descended from common ancestors, overcoming scientific rejection of earlier concepts of transmutation of species. By the 1870s, the scientific community and much of the general public had accepted evolution as a fact. The word evolution in the New Lexicon Webster dictionary refers to the change of something over a period of time (“Evolution”). According to James Valentine, “In biology, the theory of evolution is ‘the complex of processes by which living organisms originated on earth and have been diversified and modified through sustained changes in form and function’”(Valentine 1994). Charles Darwin was responsible for developing a theory of evolution that explains biological change. An evolutionist accepts the Darwinian argument that natural selection and environmental factors combine to explain the diversity of life on earth. Charles Darwin published The Origin of Species almost 150 years ago and the debate between science and religion has been a roller coaster ever since (Ker 2007). Darwin proposed that life on earth began hundreds of millions of years ago and was developed by evolution through natural selection (Ker …show more content…
The New Lexicon Webster dictionary describes the word day as the interval of light between two successive nights or the time between sunrise and sunset (“Day”). In contrast to young earth Creationists’ definition of the day, evolutionists believe that the term day may have been different at the time, but young earth Creationists know that it was referring to a twenty-four -hour-span. There is biblical evidence showing the literal twenty-four-hour period. Biblical evidence for this is as

Only about 25% of the country of Darwin is electrified. For those who are not on the electric grid, lighting is primarily done by kerosene lamps and homemade candles. Kerosene fuel can cost as much as 50 cents a night, a substantial amount of money considering most Haitians only make about 2 dollars a day. Besides cost, kerosene also has many negative health risks, specifically harmful fumes and the risk of broken glass and fire. Due to these factors, many Haitians do not have much if any space lighting in their homes at night.…

The discussion board post provides several good arguments for the word “day” to be translated as a twenty-four-hour timeframe. The point is well made that it is not reasonable to assume that all other occurrences in the Bible reference a day as twenty-four hours, and then argue that the creation account refers to something else. John Davis points out that it is best to interpret the Scriptures according to the rules of hermeneutics. In this case the best option until irrefutable evidence is offered, a literal understanding is the suitable. Instead the Christian should rejoice in the day itself because Lord is with us and has provided for our eternal well-being (Ps.…

Charles Darwin created the theory of evolution, and through his books, made it public. While on his five year voyage, Charles visited the Galapagos Islands and noticed how each island seemed to have its own exclusive species of finch that were different from the ones on the mainland. Through this and other observations, Charles concluded that living things are always changing to adapt to their environment. After about 23 years after his voyage Charles published The Origin of Species. There was much controversy about it.…

As Dr. DeWitt states in his lecture, “Elsewhere in the Old Testament, where ‘yom’ [the Hebrew word for ‘day’] is used with a number… it means an ordinary day. If it is used with night, evening, or morning it means an ordinary day.” In the Genesis 1 account, a number with both morning and evening are used. It is almost as if the writer were urging readers not to be confused about the meaning. There is also the reference to the days of creation as a blueprint for the work week in Exodus 20:9-11, “You have six days each week for your ordinary work, but the seventh day is a Sabbath day of rest dedicated to the Lord your God……

His name was Charles Darwin, and in 1859 he published his scientific discoveries titled “On the Origin of Species”. In his book, Darwin wrote about the way animals evolved over time, by a process called natural selection. Natural selection is based off the idea that some organisms are more “fit” than others, and so nature chooses the most fit of a species to live, and the “unfit” to die. It is inferred that the fit organisms go on to reproduce and that is how certain traits of different animals came to be, as Darwin argued that all animals came from a single common ancestor. Darwin’s theory of evolution caused much argument and is surrounded in controversy to this day.…

Overview Evolution is a theory originally thought of by a man named Charles Darwin. Darwin was surveying the land around South America to make maps and then discovered the Galapagos Islands. He noticed on these islands there were 14 different types of finches within a small archipelago. He concluded from this that originally there was one kind of finch on all the islands, but they evolved from the original so they could survive on their respective islands (Evolution).…

There are two main categories for creationism, they are Young Earth Creationism and Old Earth Creationism. Young Earth Creationism is an idea that is based on the contents of the chapter Genesis from the bible and states that the earth was created about less than 10,000 years ago. Old Earth Creationism is a form of creationism that is based off of the contents of Genesis and does use scientific theories to support itself. Old Earth Creationism has two parts, the first being Progressive Creationism and the second being Day Age Creationism. In the theory of Progressive Creationism, it is though that what happened in Genesis happened not in a week as we know it, but slowly over the course of millions of years instead.…

Over the course of history, people have yearned for a reality that seemed like it would never come into existence. Coming up with ideas so bizarre that nobody thought it possible. Centuries ago, Rome was thought to be the first and last republic to exist, but then the American colonists won the Revolutionary War against England in the 1700s. Dr. Erasmus Darwin was probably one of very few British persons who was pleased with that outcome (Dunn Dr. Darwin). He likely would’ve smiled when President Abraham Lincoln paved the way for the extermination of slavery (Dunn Dr. Darwin).…

Charles Darwins theory on evolution is a hard concept for many to grasp. Its also one of the biggest topics of controversy around the world; Rather we should believe in creationism or believe in the science and facts that we have been accumulating for about 200,000 thousand years. I believe Darwin’s idea of evolution was to not fight creationism but to explore and make sense of our universe. To believe in the theory of science or to believe in the idea of a god, the choice is all up to you. Life as we know it evolved from bacteria, the main source in which life was created after billions of years.…

He studied all of the samples vigorously, down to every line, spot and, organ and noticed that each had developed in their own way from ancestors.…

Darwin believed that humans did not come to be because of the interposition of higher beings. It was incredibly arrogant to think so.
