One Tree Hill was a show that I refused to watch. I knew mom’s that were obsessed with this teen show, and that was just not something I wanted to be a part of. So when finals came around last year, I decided it was time to watch One Tree Hill. I loved it. I became invested in the show, the characters and the story line. I could not figure out what it was about the show that made me love it, that made me feel like I related to it so much until I had to answer this question. Brooke Davis, from One Tree Hill is who I relate to.
Putting myself in the same category as Brooke Davis is big shoes to fill, but in many ways, I believe we are similar. Brooke is bold, living life to the fullest, never letting anyone tell her what she can or can not do. She loves hard and works harder, always holding out for what she knows is best for her. Brooke wasnt always like this, she evolved into this. Her years in high school forceShe is a support system to her friends, no matter what is going on in her own life. If you could relive a moment in your life, which would it be and why? The high school that I graduated from, Scottsdale Christian Academy, was very unique. My graduating class was 53 people and most of them had been in the same class since Kindergarten. Everyone talks about what a community these people are and how you truly will have them, and the school, for the rest of your life. So with my four years at this school, I had gotten to know these people on the deepest level. The days leading up to graduation, we drove to California for our senior trip. We went to Disneyland, we shopped in Los Angles and we spent a day at the beach. These three days were filled with great times with some of my best friends. The last night, we had a bonfire at the beach. I was so excited to have a night of relaxing, making s’mores, and having some of the last conversations we would have before we would graduate. Sitting here with these 53 people would be a moment in my life I could relieve over and over. Sharing our high school experiences, laughing at our stupid freshman mistakes and how cool we thought we once were, seeing how much we had all changed in our past four years together. Soon, we were stopped by one of our leaders, who encouraged us to thank people that had influenced you in high school. It started off with very obvious thank you’s. The thank you’s to your best friend, to the kid who made all the study guides, to the teachers who helped us grow up. It slowly progressed to genuine thank you’s. Thank you for being my support system during this event, thank you for being …show more content…
Seeing the friendships that have been formed and the true leadership skills that have been obtained is something I know that I want to be a part of. Hearing testimonies of people who truly have had life changing experiences in SAIL, excites me that I have the opportunity to be a part of something this great and life changing.
What sets you apart from other applicants?
Going into college, as easy as it is to get involved, getting involved is really hard. Standing out is essential to getting involved and sometimes standing out isn 't easy. Things that I know set me apart from other applicants is that I am an out of state student, a first generation Aggie, and also a transfer student.
These things have forced me to fully embrace the Aggie lifestyle for all that it’s worth. I don 't have my parents pushing it down my throat, I don 't have the Texas background where I am forced to pick between here and U.T., I am here solely because I love the school and I love the spirit and community that Texas A&M brings.
