Throughout the event they were monitoring and supervising the room. They gladly came when needed but they knew that the guidance they instill in us for the whole year or more, made us capable of handling this event ourselves. To be given this opportunity to share what I have leaned and to help others was truly rewarding. The dialect of this luncheon was very open and inviting. Conversation and discussion was certainly encouraged. This allowed my peers and I to bounce ideas of one another. As one shared an experience or answered a question, someone else thought of their own personal antidote or was able to expand on the answer of that question. Adding personal stories allowed us to connect more as a group of Laurie Art Scholars. It also allowed the future student to connect personally with us. From traveling one is forced to step out of their comfort zone and experience something new. New ideas, culture, and ways of life. Traveling presents an opportunity to learn from experience. You learn about the lives of others regardless if you share a nation or different countries around the world. One may come to realize that there are universal similarities between the people you meet. You also gain a sense of history and geography about the places you visit. Travelling is more about just visiting a place, its about what you take away from it. I personally have not had many opportunities to travel inside of Canada but I hope to in the near future. I live on an Island in the middle of lake Huron called Manitoulin Island which is the largest freshwater island in the world. It is a popular destination for summer tourism and boating. This has presented me with occasions where I have met others mainly from different parts of Canada and the United States. As they compare Manitoulin to their hometowns, I get a sense of atmosphere of many places. I have had the opportunity to travel to Ottawa.
